Born in 1952 in Bunnell, Florida, U.S. Bill
T. JONES is a dancer and choreographer. He
studied classical ballet and modern dance in
university, and in 1982 he co-founded the
Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company.
He continued the company’s activity under
the same name even after Zane, his work
and life partner, passed away due to AIDS in
1988. Jones has given many performances
throughout the world and won numerous
awards. He is a legendary figure who has
greatly influenced the history of dance in the
United States. In recent years he has branched
out into choreography for musicals, and has
won two Tony Awards for Best Choreography
(in 2007 and 2010).
