Born in 1973 in Yangon, Myanmar, Shin Daewe is a pioneer documentary filmmaker based in Myanmar. After working in documentary production, she has pursued documentary filmmaking since 1997. She has directed more than ten short documentary films, some of which have received festival awards including the Best Documentary Award at the Freedom Film Festival in 2013 and at Wathann Film Festival #3 (2013) and #4 (2014), and the Silver Kinabalu Award at the Kota Kinabalu International Film Festival in 2014.
