Born in 1984 in Hokkaido, Japan. In 2010 Miyake unveiled his first feature-length film, Good for Nothing (Yakutatazu). His first theater release, Playback (2012), was officially shown in the International Competition Division of the Locarno Film Festival (Switzerland). His other works include the 2015 music documentary THE COCKPIT; the video diary series Diary without Words, which he began in 2014; and the 2018 film And Your Bird Can Sing (Kimi no Tori wa Utaeru), based on a novel by Sato Yasushi.
