Born in 1960 in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan, Minato Chihiro graduated from the School of Political Science and Economics at Waseda University. After a stay in South America, he moved to Paris where he worked as a photographer and critic, bringing a highly original, keen perspective to a chaotic era. Addressing themes such as the genesis of art, memory and portent, and image and politics, his work presents a radical style of intellect and creation. His recent publications include Thinking Landscape: From the Changing World and the Japanese Memory (Chuokoron-shinsha, 2018), Chris Marker: cinéaste nomade et engage (co-author and co-editor, Shinwasha, 2014). He is a professor in Tama Art University’s Department of Information Design.
