Born in 1974 in Aichi, Japan. Associate Professor at Chiba Institute of Technology. Hamano specializes in the history of visual culture and the history of peripheral science and culture. Her books include Shashin no Bodarando—Ekkususen, Shinreishasin, Nensha (The Borderland of Photography: X-ray, Spirit Photography, Thoughtography) (Seikyusha, 2015). She has published papers including “‘1408 Shitsu’ to Yurei Hoteru ni tsuiteno Oboegaki” (1408 and the Memorandum on the Haunted Hotel) (Eureka Magazine, Seidosha, November 2017 issue) and “Cheshaneko to Fukashi no Yutopia” (The Cheshire Cat and the Invisible Utopia) (Eureka Magazine, Seidosha, March 2015 extra issue).
