Born in Singapore and based in Berlin, Ming
WONG reinterprets cinema and popular
culture from new angles, using imperfect
translations and reenactments to create videos
and installations that reveal the distortions
of “authenticity” and “originality.” In
addition to representing Singapore at the
53rd Venice Biennale and earning a Special
Mention at the competition, WONG has
also had solo exhibitions at the Ullens Center
for Contemporary Art (Beijing, 2015),
Shiseido Gallery (Tokyo, 2013), REDCAT
(Los Angeles, 2012), and Neuer Berliner
Kunstverein (Berlin, 2010).
