Born in 1934 in San Francisco, Yvonne RAINER is a dancer, choreographer, and
filmmaker. After founding the Judson Dance
Theater, which formed in 1962 and proceeded
to transform conventional modern dance
around the new concept of postmodern dance,
RAINER went on to create the seminal dance
piece Trio A in 1966. She then transitioned into
filmmaking in the 1970s and continued to
pursue that passion until eventually resuming
her career as a choreographer in the 2000s.
