Art critic. Left the University of Tokyo after
completing a doctoral program in British
and American literature without receiving a
degree, but subsequently obtained her Ph.D.
in comparative literature from Princeton
University. She contributes essays on trends
and artists in the Japanese, British and
American contemporary art scenes to academic
journals and exhibition catalogs both within
Japan and overseas. She is also a part-time
lecturer at Tama Art University.
