Maiko Endo was born in Helsinki, Finland and grew up in Tokyo. She moved to New York in 2000 where began her career focused around music, as a violinist while playing with orchestras and bands as a violinist and writing music for film soundtracks. As a film director, her debut film KUICHISAN (2011) won the Best International Documentary Film award at the Jihlava International Documentary Film Festival (Czech Republic) in 2012. Since 2011, she has lived in Tokyo, completing her second feature TECHNOLOGY. She is currently working on her third feature, which she plans to shoot in Tokyo in 2020.
