Currently serving as the Executive Director of the Maison franco-japonaise, Shinoda is also a professor emeritus of Shirayuri University. He specializes in French medieval literature and his publications include For Those Wishing to Study French Medieval Literature (Sekaishisosha-Kyogakusha) which he co- authored in 2007, and A First Book of French (Kodansha), published in 1992. His Le Roman de la Rose (Heibonsha), published in 1996 with translation and annotations, received the Scholarship and Translation award in 48th Yomiuri Prize for Literature competition.
