Andrew Maerkle (b. 1981), formerly Deputy Editor of the ArtAsiaPacific magazine, is currently Deputy Editor of ART iT (International Edition). He has also contributed to art journals abroad including Artforum and frieze, mainly writing on contemporary art in Japan and elsewhere. For four years from 2015 to 2018, Maerkle taught “Discourse Lab/Reading and Writing Workshop,” a seminar designed to help its participants put their thoughts in their own words, at MAD (Making Art Different), a contemporary art school organized by AIT (Arts Initiative Tokyo).
