Mikhail Karikis is a Greek-British artist based in London. His work embraces moving image, sound and performance, and emerges from his long-standing investigation of sound as a sculptural material and a sociopolitical agent. Karikis collaborates with communities and creates projects which explore collectivist dynamics, and highlight alternative modes of human agency and action. His works have been exhibited internationally, including at the 54th Venice Biennale (Italy) 2011, Manifesta 9 (Belgium), 2012, 2nd Aichi Triennale (Japan), 2013, and the 19th Sydney Biennale, 2014. Solo presentations of his works have been presented at venues including Whitechapel Gallery (London, 2018-2019), Turku Art Museum (Finland, 2018) and Tate Modern (London, 2020).
