University student Ume and junior high school students Take and Shun meet at a workshop on collecting the DNA of the plants in Yamaguchi city, Yamaguchi Prefecture and making an illustrated reference book. Encounters, experiences, time, feelings, growth, love, education, DNA… Distances between people, born by way of things invisible to the eye, momentarily lengthen and shorten, and these moments are chiseled into the film in meticulous detail. What happens when images in the palm of the hand, taken with an iPhone, cross over to another person, or when a camera is handed to a performer? Miyake has been engaged in a long-term residency at the Yamaguchi Center for Arts and Media [YCAM] and has created works together with on-site staff and people who have no acting experience. Seeing Wild Tour in combination with the exhibition World Tour (Maison franco-japonaise) and the film Diary without Words 2018 gives us an awareness of crossed borders and expanding creation.
