Ute Aurand has been producing works on 16mm film since 1980, pointing her camera predominantly at modest scenery and familiar people. While her films’ sharp, delicate scenes suggest tranquility, they invite viewers to experience a dynamism of space and time that can be presented only on film. We will screen a wide range of works depicting Aurand’s world, including stop-motion animations co-created with painter Detel Aurand, a mid-length work created with the late colleague videographer Maria Lang, and her latest portrait works.
