TAKASHI Toshiko has long been making films which calmly depict the
unnamed landscapes of daily life from a personal perspective. In recent years
she has been continuously filming dancer/choreographer KUROSAWA
Mika, documenting her performances and practice. In Kurosawa’s signature
work Wave, a solo dance which she often performs, the dancer moves forward
and back like approaching and receding waves. Over this work Takashi
superimposes time as experienced by one dancer. How can an extraordinary
dancer who defies replication be captured on film?
