Dreams Rewired traces the seeds of today’s hyper-advanced media
society back more than a hundred years, pairing elaborate
montages of spliced footage from the earliest films with a
narration by Tilda SWINTON to portray the visions and dreams
that telephone, television, and film have engendered. The work,
which began to take shape when one of the directors discovered
sound sources to 1930s-era talkies at the Museum of Technology,
Vienna, is an essay film about technological utopias. The film
was an official selection at the 2015 International Film Festival
Rotterdam.
