From Afghanistan through Central Asia, Russia, the Balkans and East
Africa to Western Europe… This four-screen moving image chronicle depicts
international heroin distribution channels and the various social realities
extending along these routes, traced through KNOTH and DE JONG’s
reportage over a period of 20-plus years. Rapid globalization, while bringing
many benefits, has also contributed to the expansion of a disturbing darkness.
This situation, in which a series of negative event chains aggravate one
another further, is thrust before our eyes in Poppy (2012).
