SASAMOTO Aki, Delicate Cycle : Performance

This work is made up of three components: an installation, a performance of
the same title, and relics which transmit the history of the performance. The
title is from the washing machine setting for delicate clothing. Each separate
element – the laundry going around and around as it’s washed, the dung beetle
intently crawling over the soil, the small birds looking down at the earth’s
surface from high branches – crosses the exhibition space in an absurd manner,
giving rise to inexpressible meaning. While carefully picking up fragments
of daily life and amassing seemingly nonsensical narratives and sculptural
elements, SASAMOTO simultaneously draws out multiple, highly abstract
points of view.
