Maison franco-japonaise Joint Program: Technology? – Media Art in Japan and France

Photography, Théâtre optique (optical theatre), film, and other things related to imagery, have all been invented in France. This program comprehensively examines the transformation of media art from the 19th century up to the present, under the general theme “Technology?” It aims to review the history of imagery at large, and introduces at once also examples of works by contemporary Japanese and French artists. The panelists discuss the transformations and developments of technology, while illustrating what kinds of new technologies have been utilized in the realm of media art. (Program in Japanese only)
