Homemade is a performance by Trisha Brown that was first staged in 1966 at Judson Memorial Church in New York. A projector mounted on the performer’s back projects a film by Robert Whitman onto the venue’s walls, floor, ceiling and audience. These projected images are multiplied while overlapping with Brown’s own body, based on Brown’s idea to “use [her] memory as a score.” Through this and other pieces, the exhibition focuses on the adaptation of the dancer’s body, while investigating the act of viewing and what exactly it is that we look at.
