The works exhibited here are aerial photographs of Tokyo, taken by Kitadai Shozo from a helicopter. Kitadai has been defining the act of photographing as a combination of discovery and selection, and in his own process of discovering new visual sensations, he began to look at things from angles other than the common perspectives. In these images, the unique beauty of Tokyo as a city is revealed from the photographer’s stark and mechanical point of view. At the same time, they communicate Kitadai’s general philosophy, engaging in creative work while reevaluating the essential qualities of technology and its rapid advancements.
