Born 1977 in Fujian, China, Pak Sheung Chuen immigrated to Hong Kong in 1984. He majored in fine arts and theology as a student and graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2002. Since then, his work as an artist has focused on conceptual art while employing photography, video, installation, and other expressive techniques. His work explores various possibilities hidden in daily life and, while often playful, raises complex questions about global issues, politics, and history. In recent years, his video works have been acquired by M+ (Hong Kong) and New York’s 58th Street Branch Library. Major exhibitions include the 53rd Venice Biennale at the Hong Kong Pavilion (2009) and the Yokohama Triennale 2008.
