HAYASHI Yuki
Hayashi Yuki creates animated films from layers upon layers of fragments cut out from a vast number of digitized photographs. In addition to photos he takes himself, he works with images he receives from others as well as interview material, reexamining the nature of communication and memories mediated by digital media and the internet. In recent years, he has focused on examining moving images’ capacity for expansion and the cooperative aspects of the form, with many of his projects involving interdisciplinary collaboration and workshop-based creation. His major exhibitions include “Nothing can be seen during a power cut” (Kyoto Art Center, 2016) and “You were always looking for the entrance to the world” (Creative Center OSAKA, 2022). His works have been screened at film festivals including the International Short Film Festival Oberhausen (Oberhausen, Germany, 2021).
