KAWADE Yoshie
Yoshie Kawade is Professor of History of Political Thought at the University of Tokyo, Japan and Delegated Director of Maison Franco-Japonaise. She is the author of two books written in Japanese: Aristocracy and Commerce: Montesquieu and the Problem of Despotism (1996) and The Pursuit of Peace: Cosmopolitanism and Patriotism in Eighteenth-Century France (2023). Her papers, written in English, include “Liberty and the Rule of Law,” in A Cultural History of Democracy, vol. 4, (2021).
