In the Commission Project, launched at the Yebisu International Festival for Art & Alternative Visions 2023, artists based in Japan are commissioned to create works as products of a new Yebisu International Festival for Art & Alternative Visions. The project aspires to support the creative endeavors of artists by utilizing the domestic and international networks forged by the festival to introduce the practices of the participating artists at cultural facilities and institutions. Here, the four finalists of the project’s second edition will discuss their respective works and creative processes. The symposium will pursue a reconsideration of documents and documentary through the works that inspired “Docs: Images and Records,” the theme of this year’s festival.
