The artist started creating this new work in his ‘Landscape’ series in 2023, finishing it in 2024. During the year-long process, Hayashi searched for the word “landscape” in more than 20 languages, collecting a vast number of photos he found online to reconstruct our impression of a landscape. Accompanied by music written by Polar M, the imagery expresses an ordinary day, with the sound of conversation heard from time to time. The imagery appears dream-like at first sight, but closer inspection reveals a net of everyday relationships, joining together quiet memories (landscapes) of past and present beyond the screen with the parallel real world.
